چکیده
in densely populated areas. A typical mobile-backhaul network has thousands of hops, and operators must be able to increase microwave capacity without having to change frequency planning and replace equipment across their entire network. This article reviews current and future microwave solutions with the potential for Gbps backhaul capacity levels, for rural and urban areas. The solutions presented make best possible use of the advantages of microwave technology, including fast deployment, flexibility and low total cost. The possibilities created by 112MHz channels in the 42GHz band and by wider channel bandwidths in the 70/80GHz bands are explored. Finally, test-bed results are presented with recordbreaking 1024QAM modulation, 5Gbps single-carrier radios, the world’s first line-of-sight (LoS) MIMO microwave demonstration and ultra-high spectral efficiencies offering Gbps transport capacity on a single 28MHz channel.

Low RF-Complexity Technologies to Enable Millimeter-Wave MIMO with Large Antenna Array for 5G Wireless Communications
Millimeter-wave (mmWave) MIMO with large antenna array has attracted considerable interests from academic and industry communities, as it can provide larger bandwidth and higher spectrum efficiency. However, with hundreds of antennas, the number of radio frequency (RF) chains required by mmWave MIMO is also huge, leading to unaffordable hardware cost and power consumption in practice. In this p...

The Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit-B (AMSU-B) installed on the NOAA-15, 16, and 17 satellites, is the new generation of a series of microwave imagers/sounders that can sense atmospheric moisture and other hydrometeors through clouds. This paper demonstrates the potential of multi-frequency AMSU-B data for classifying different types of hydrometeors. Ten types of these hydrometers have been co...
متن کاملNew technologies in electron spin resonance.
New electron spin resonance (ESR) technologies have been developed, which have led to new and improved applications. (a) The development of two-dimensional Fourier transform (FT) ESR required spectrometers providing intense pi/2 microwave pulses of very short (3-5 ns) duration, wide bandwidths, and very short dead times. It has enabled studies that resolve sophisticated details of molecular dyn...
